Impromptu Portraits

These photographs involve no studio, prearrangement, or planning, but they are still portraits of people where I found them. Some are of people unaware I was photographing them. Others were made with explicit or tacit permission, and some were made at the request of the subject. Virtually all of the photographs in these galleries of the "People" collection and many in the Pony Express collection are also impromptu portraits. These are a few of my favorites.
