College Hill Park Owls I
In the spring and early summer of 2020 a pair of Great Horned Owls took up residence in College Hill Park in Wichita, Kansas and began raising two owlets. A local park goer recalled seeing them mating in February. Many people stopped by to check on the owlets' progress after they hatched. Some people brought lawn chairs and watched as part of their evening ritual. The owls were clearly aware of the attention but did not seem to mind. In fact, after the youngsters fledged, they have been observed in College Hill Park with their parents learning their hunting lessons. I have divided the owl photographs into two galleries generally in chronological order.
